Rising Australian youngster Elvis Smylie held off LIV Golf stars Cameron Smith and Marc Leishman to win the BMW Australian PGA Championship to claim his maiden DP World Tour Title and earn a 2-year exemption onto the Tour.

The 22-year old fired a final round 67 in what was a 54-hole tournament at the Royal Queensland Club, after Friday was washed-out in Brisbane, holding off Cam Smith who finished solo second, with his Rippers GC teammate, Marc Leishman tied for third.

It was his second victory in just over a month after the Aussie took home his maiden title, the WA Open trophy on the PGA Tour of Australasia. Today’s title will earn him a 2-year exemption onto the DP World Tour, where he will look to emulate the the golfer who has taken a keen interest in Smylie’s progress since earning one of Cam Smith’s scholarships in 2019.

The rising Aussie star took the wire-to-wire victory holding off the former Open Champion, who uncharacteristically seemed to have putter trouble as he could only finish two shots behind the eventual winner after a final round 69.
