On The Bubble – 3 Names in Danger of Losing Full PGA Tour Card Status

The 2024 PGA Tour Season reaches its climax later today with the final tournament on the Fedex Fall Series set to come to a conclusion at the RSM Classic, with current tied leaders Vince Whaley and Maverick McNealey looking like they have secured there cards.

However, for those on the opposite end of the rankings, it’s getting tight with many players still hoping for one last stellar round that will secure their card for the 2025 PGA Tour season.

We take a look at three of the biggest names that are on the bubble and in Danger of losing their PGA Tour status for 2025.

Joel Dahman – Currently 128th

The popular American has played in 28 events over the 2024 season but has missed the cut in 10 events and has only one Top Ten Finish, a tied-10th finish at the RBC Canadian Open back in June and is in danger of losing his card that he earned for 2017/18. Now sitting at 237th in the OWGR, the American has won once on the PGA Tour, a 2021 win at The Corales Puntacana Resort and Club Championship but has had a barren run since. Sitting at a tied-61st place, Dahman faces the most important round of his life on Sunday if he is to retain his card for 2025.

Matt Wallace – Currently 134th

The Englishman has had one of those years, has struggled on the PGA Tour, particularly early in the year but has picked up his game on the DP World Tour in recent months with a win at the Omega European Masters to go with four other top 20s. Could it be that Wallace is just better suited to playing across Europe and Asia, he wouldn’t be the first put it that way, Bob Macintyre pretty much said the same thing earlier this season. When on form, Wallace is a solid player and losing his card on the PGA Tour does seem like a waste of talent.

Webb Simpson – Currently 160th

Arguably on the twilight of his career, it can’t be said that the PGA Tour didn’t do their utmost to allow Simpson to retain his card for 2025. It become somewhat of a running joke earlier in the year when he got into numerous tournaments through player invites. As a former member of the PGA PAC team, a former Major winner and three-time Ryder Cup member, his talent is unquestionable but with zero Top 20s in his 15 starts this year, he has work to do to regain his card in future years and still being under 40, there is time on his side.
