The International Series rolls into Qatar this week, the penultimate tournament of the 2024 Asian Tour season and an exciting cast of players have assembled ahead of the season-ending finale, the PIF Saudi International next week in Riyadh.
A star-studded field that includes last weeks winner of the Hong Kong Open, Patrick Reed as well as his fellow Major winners, the South African pair of Louis Oosthuizen and Charl Schwartzel are all in action at the Doha Golf Club.
With last year’s champion, Andy Ogletree not in the field for the event, their will be a new name on the trophy with a raft of LIV golf players hoping to take home the trophy including arguably the stand-out name on the entry list, Anthony Kim who will be looking to continue his progress on his return to professional golf.
Other standout names include the likes of South African pair Dean Burmester and Branden Grace, Hy-Flyers member Brendan Steele and Crushers star Anirban Lahiri. Impressive Spanish youngsters David Puig and Eugenio Chacarra will tee it up in Doha, as well as the European trio of Thomas Pieters, Sam Horsfield and Kalle Samooja.
The key battle to lock up a spot on the LIV Golf roster for 2025 looks to be between American John Catlin and New Zealander Ben Campbell. Both have experienced time as reserves on the LIV roster in 2024 with Catlin currently leading by 83pts. However, indifferent form from the American has seen his one-time huge lead whittled down with everything to play for.
With more points on offer in these next two tournaments, should both of these succumb to nerves, the chasing pack might make it more than a two-horse race, heading into next weeks end of season PIF Saudi International, with the likes of Dustin Johnson, Cameron Smith and Sergio Garcia all committing to the tournament.
